The German-Nigerian-US American investment group Ghs Heritage plans a Greenfield airport in Ogun state, some 60 kilometer (45 miles) north of Nigerian metropolis Lagos. It is thought to relive Lagos’ outdated and overloaded airport and possibly replace it in the future.

A special challenge for any airport development consists in Nigeria’s insufficient local infrastructure.
