In order to relief migration pressure to Cairo and Gize, the cities of 6th Of October and Sheikh Zayed have been established in the 1980s west of Gize in desert area. Approx. 1 M persons are living in both cities and over 3 M are expected in the future.
The master plan shall develop the area south of 6th Of October and create a pleasant and attractive city center and residential areas.
